Festival season continues with the 9th Drunken Film Festival still floating around Oakland bars through Friday, the 3rd i South Asian Film Festival settling into the Roxie for the weekend, and the Mill Valley Film Festival continues through Sunday with our feature this week, Valeska Grisebach's The Dreamed Adventure, Andrey Zviaguintsev's Minotaur, the Anders Danielsen Lie- and Laurie Metcalf-starring Everybody Digs Bill Evans, James Gray's Adam Driver- and Scarlet Johansson-starring Paper Tiger, a Cannes Jury-winning Nepalese feature debut, Elephants in the Fog, Ron Howard's Avedon doc, Beth de Araújo's Sundance-winning SF-set thriller, Josephine, Alex Gibney's Musk doc, Andrew Haigh's A Long Winter, the Sandra Hüller-starring Rose, Dawn Porter's doc about the Harlem Park Three, When a Witness Recants, Paweł Pawlikowski's Fatherland, Nigerian teen filmmakers doc Crocodile, Florian Zeller's Javier Bardem- and Penélope Cruz-starring Bunker, Jesse Eisenberg's Julianne Moore-starring The Debut, and more. 

Monday, Patrick Tam's SF-set Love Massacre is at the 4 Star, Chronovisor and Traces of Home continue at the Roxie, Casino Royale is at the Alamo Drafthouses New Mission (NM), Valley Fair (VF), and Mountain View (MV), Ninja Scroll is at the Drafhouse MV, Moonlight (thru Wed.) is at the Drafthouse NM, and Beetlejuice starts at the NM and floats to other Drafthouses through Wednesday, Killer of Sheep is at the Balboa, Dustin Hoffman's Quartet is at the Orinda for this month's 50 Films You May Not Have Seen, That You Should pick. 

Tuesday, the Roxie's Gialloween kicks off with A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin, The Silence of the Lambs (on 35mm) is at the Drafthouse NM, Jean Cocteau's La Belle et la Bête is at the Balboa, and The Mad Magician (in 3D!) is at the Vogue. 

Wednesday, a selection of films  from the COUSIN Collective, an Indigenous artist filmmaking group founded by Sky Hopinka, Adam Khalil, Alexandra Lazarowich, and Adam Piron continues Alternative Visions at BAMPFA, horror mockumentary Wrathbone (with director Steve Flavin in person) and Alex Cox's Dead Souls are at the Roxie, The Hole (on 35mm) is at the Drafthouse NM, Queen Budapest (repeats Saturday) is at the Balboa, Suspiria (repeats Thursday) is at the Vogue, the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum has a talkie night with Across the Universe, and Halloween is at the Landmark Opera Plaza. 

Thursday, Isaac Mizrahi doc Unzipped continues at the Roxie, who also host Spookfest and Edie Arnold is a Loser is at the Balboa.

Friday, Japanese horror Never After Dark and the new doc from No Other Land-co-directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, Naza, continue Roxie's takeover of New People Cinema, Hellraiser is at the Drafthouse NM, Ringu is at the Drafthouse MV, and Showgirls is at all three Drafthouses, The Faculty (on 35mm) is at the Balboa, Naza opens at the New Parkway, Oldboy (2003) (reepats Saturday) is at the Lark,  up in Vallejo, SF Cinematheque co-presents a night of expanded cinema with Light Waves & Sound Forms, the Niles gets local with 1970s high-schooler-made toxic kaiju The Milpitas Monster, and The Descent is at the Landmark Piedmont. 

Saturday, Artists' Television Access hosts a benefit screening for Shapeshifters Cinema, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (repeats Sunday) and A Chinese Ghost Story are at the 4 Star, John Carpenter's The Thing is at the New Parkway, the Niles screens F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu, Frankenstein (1931) is at the Landmark Opera Plaza, and The Old Dark House is at the Orinda. 

Sunday, Jean-Luc Godard's early short films are at BAMPFA, the Roxie has Tusi Hark's Don't Play with Fire, UPS Teamsters doc Who Moves America, Grace Walcott presents her drama-therapy doc River of Life LGBTQ+, and My Name is Pati with Pene Pati and direcotr Rebecca Tansley in person, All That Heaven Allows is at the Balboa, Funny Girl is at the Orinda, and the Niles screens a pre-code creature feature, The Vampire Bat, before their monthly talkie comedy shorts matinee.
