Monday, the Balboa's Hitchcock fest continues today with Shadow of a Doubt, The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), and Vertigo, a Miles Davis celebration with a screening of Elevator to the Gallows is at the 4 Star, Switchblade Sisters and Jaws (through Wednesday) are at the Alamo Drafthouse New Mission, Ran continues at the Roxie, Sinners continues its 70mm run at the Grand Lake, and to celebrate its 1-year anniversary, the Sequoia has $1 screenings of classics through Wednesday.
Tuesday, Lady Vengeance (on 35mm) gets one more round at the Roxie, The Vourdalak is at the New Mission, The True Story of Tamara de Lempicka is at the Balboa, and the Orinda has a free matinee of George Cukor's The Women.
Wednesday, Some Like it Hot (on 16mm) at the Balboa, The Touch of Evil (on 35mm—though unclear whether it's the Preview or Reconstructed cut) is at the Roxie, where SF Cinematheque also invite filmmaker Courtney Stephens to present Invention, Mystery of Chess Boxing is at the New Mission, Pan's Labyrinth (repeats Thursday) at the Vogue, and The Basement presents Return of the Living Dead (on VHS) at the 4 Star.
Thursday, SF Docfest 2025 kicks off at the Roxie with Rebel with a Clause and Peaches Goes Bananas and continues through next week there and at the Vogue, The Witch is at the Balboa, Agnes Varda's Vagabond is at the 4 Star, the Stanford's first Fred Astaire double of the week is Royal Wedding and Easter Parade (on 35mm, repeats Friday), and SF Cinematheque presents Found Footage & Collage Films: The Artist's Voice (some 16mm) at the Lab.
Friday, Bicycles, Balloons & Buoyant Ballads: New Expanded Animation by Jeremy Rourke is at Shapeshifters, Superbad and Anchorman are at the Balboa, and directors Maurizio and Zaya Benazzo present The Eternal Song at the Smith Rafael, where Sister Midnight and Bad Shabbos also open.
