Monday, one last screening of one of our favorite movies of 2025, Peter Hujar's Day, the second half of the first section of My Undesirable Friends, Angel's Egg, and Yi Yi are at the Roxie , Sinners and One Battle After Another both return in 70mm IMAX at the AMC Metreon, and Among Neighbors (with filmmaker Q&A) is at the Grand Lake .

Tuesday, Terry Zwigoff is in person at the Smith Rafael for Bad Santa, Cactus Pears closes at the Roxie, and the Super Shangri-Law Show presents Tokuzo Tanaka's The Snow Woman (a tale you might know from Kwaidan) at the Balboa.

Wednesday, Daddy's Gone a-Hunting (on 35mm) is this week's Weird Wednesday pick at the Alamo Drafthouse New Mission, Noir City's annual Xmas show is I Wouldn't Be in Your Shoes at the Grand Lake, Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru is at BAMPFA, and Terry Zwigoff migrates to the Roxie for a double feature of Louie Bluie and Bad Santa.

Thursday, 'Tis the Season of [George] Kuchar at SFMOMA, a CCSF student showcase is at the subject of our feature this week, Artists' Television Access, classic French noir Such a Pretty Little Beach is at BAMPFA, the Stanford's Western season comes to a close with a Budd Boetticher/Randol Scott double feature of The Tall T and Ride Lonesome (both on 35mm, repeating Friday), Viridiana (repeats Sunday) and Mexico's Oscar submission, We Shall Not Be Moved / No nos moverán (repeats Saturday), are at the Roxie, where Bi Gan's Resurrection also opens, and a preview screening of The Plague is at the Drafthouse New Mission.

Friday, Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out) (repeating Saturday) is at the Vogue, Paprika (on 35mm) is at the Roxie, where Suburban Fury opens (through the weekend, with director Robinson Devor in person on Saturday afternoon), Kurosawa's Yojimbo is at BAMPFA, Gremlins (repeats Saturday) is at the Balboa, and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Eraserhead (both repeating Saturday) are at the 4 Star.

Saturday, Other Cinema (de)tours through Northern California with works by Jeanne Finley, Ellie Vanderlip, Craig Baldwin and more at Artists' Television Access, Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress and the Barbara Stanwyck-starring, Robert Rossen-scripted The Strange Love of Martha Ivers is at BAMPFA, The Thing is at the Roxie, the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum has its monthly comedy shorts night, and the Stanford commences a brief Holiday Program of Ernst Lubitch's The Shop Around the Corner (the original for You've Got Mail, in case anyone didn't know) and Meet Me in St. Louis (both on 35mm, repeating through Tuesday, before the delightful madness that is their annual Christmas Eve screening of It's a Wonderful Life [on 35mm], which is the best way to see It's a Wonderful Life and will sell out, so go see the Westerns and get your tickets in advance).

Sunday, BAMPFA's long, glorious season of Mikio Naruse comes to an end with Summer Clouds (on 35mm), Todd Haynes accepts an award from SFFILM in person with Christine Vachon, Charles Melton, and Peaches Christ for Carol Day, Tokyo Godfathers is at the Roxie, Media Meltdown Movie Madhouse present The Wizard of the Emerald City at the 4 Star, and a preview screening of Jim Jarmusch's Father Mother Sister Brother is at the Drafthouse New Mission.
