The African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF) is happy to announce its 2026 Women’s History Month Film Series, a three-day program celebrating women’s voices in cinema across the African diaspora.

Friday, March 27

7:00 PM Black Girl & The Silent Monologue (Senegal)

Eager to find a better life abroad, a Senegalese woman becomes a mere governess to a family in southern France, suffering from discrimination and marginalization.

 

Saturday, March 28
12:30 PM Power Alley (Brazil)

On the eve of a championship, 17-year-old volleyball player Sofia faces an unwanted pregnancy and seeks an illegal abortion while a fundamentalist group tries to stop her.


2:30 PM A Life in Art Through the Eye of Dr. Leslie King Hammond + Q&A (USA)

Art historian and curator Dr. Leslie King Hammond champions artists of color, mentoring generations through studio visits and exhibitions while inspiring excellence, creativity, and resilience.


4:30 PM Spadura + Zoom Q&A (USA)

Framed as an off-kilter baby shower, the film unapologetically takes on motherhood, the emotional and financial cost of IVF, grief, aging, as well as the unique fertility obstacles faced by Black women in America.


6:30 PM The Last Meal (Canada/Haiti)

Reynold is dying of cancer. He uses his last meals to share them with his daughter. As the meal progresses, a ritual begins to take hold, the dishes acting as reminders of the past. Vanessa discovers who her father really is.


8:30 PM The Eyes of the Rainbow & Blueprint for My People (USA/Cuba)

Assata Shakur, a leader in the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Army, escapes from a U.S. prison in 1979. She travels to Cuba, where she receives political asylum and lives in exile.

Fashion revolutionary Bethann Hardison looks back on her journey as a pioneering Black model, modeling agent, and activist, shining a light on an untold chapter in the fight for racial diversity.


4:00 PM Village Keeper & She Island + Q&A (Canada/Trinidad and Tobago/USA)

Overprotective single mother Jean struggles with past violence while raising her teens in a crowded apartment, confronting trauma as her children grow more independent.


6:30 PM Seeds +Q&A (USA)

A look into the lives of Black generational farmers, unveiling the challenges of maintaining legacy and the value of land ownership.
