“Love, Mom and Dad,” screening weekends at 11:00am in IFC Center’s long-running “Weekend Classics” series, opens April 12-14 with Wes Anderson’s THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS (2001), starring Bill Murray and Anjelica Huston as estranged spouses whose brood includes Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow and Luke Wilson. Separated New York couples are also at the heart of Robert Benton’s multi-Oscar-winnerKRAMER VS. KRAMER (1979), playing May 31-June 2, and Noah Baumbach’s THE SQUID AND THE WHALE(2005), on screen June 7-9. Mother’s Day weekend features a 35mm print of Martin Scorsese’s ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (1974), and Father’s Day offers Vittorio De Sica’s neorealist landmark THE BICYCLE THIEVES (1948). Other highlights in the lineup include Charlie Chaplin’s THE KID (1921); a 35mm print of Anna Magnani in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s MAMMA ROMA (1962); Yasujiro Ozu’s LATE SPRING (1949), with the iconic Chishu Ryu and Setsuko Hara as a father and daughter; Douglas Sirk’s double maternal melodrama IMITATION OF LIFE (1959); and Ingmar Bergman’s AUTUMN SONATA (1978).
