Stefanie Schulte Strathaus: Modes of Archivism

Series Site

October 14–18, 2026
We welcome Stefanie Schulte Strathaus from Berlin as our guest for one week. She will speak about different facets of the curatorial work she has been involved with through the years and share several recent restoration projects completed by film archives in Germany, Egypt, and Nigeria. Much of her career has been spent at Berlin’s Arsenal Filminstitut, where she is the Artistic Director and has helped lead the institution through its relocation to the Silent Green Kulturquartier in Wedding, uniting its film collection, administrative offices, and new cinema in one location. Schulte Strathaus is recognized for the programs she has helped develop and nurture, including the Berlinale’s Forum and Forum Expanded; Arsenal Filminstitut’s Living Archive project; Archival Assembly, a biennial festival; and publications such as Accidental Archivism. She serves on the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Film Archives, as well as the boards of the Harun Farocki Institut, Network of Arab Alternative Screens, and the master’s program in film culture at the University of Jos, Nigeria. We celebrate her visionary curatorial work and leadership role within the international community through this series of special presentations and talks, including the Mosse Lecture on October 16.
