Restored and Rediscovered: A Film Preservation Festival 2025

Series Site

“Celebrate the return of some of cinema’s best loved and newly appreciated treasures with the second edition of the Jacob Burns Film Center’s Restored and Rediscovered, a series dedicated to film preservation and restoration.

This second edition makes room for works by film titans like John Ford, Jean-Luc Godard, Chantal Akerman, Peter Weir, Sergei Parajanov, and Charles Burnett, along with recently rediscovered films like Zeinabu irene Davis’ Compensation, Lino Brocka’s Bona, and Jim McKay’s Girl’s Town. Don’t miss a one-night-only Q&A with James Ivory, two screenings with live musical accompaniment, a 3D noir from the ‘50s, and our panel on Film Restoration in Action.

With over half of pre-1950 U.S. films lost—and even more from the silent era—our series raises awareness about the urgent need for preservation. Join us in honoring these restored works and the organizations working to save our cinematic heritage.”
