Considered the father of the modern short story and one of the greatest French writers of the nineteenth century, Guy de Maupassant, in his short life, authored an astounding number of works, beloved by readers for their twists and turns, that proved remarkably rich material for film adaptations. In conjunction with Isabelle Huppert’s staged reading of seven stories by de Maupassant, performed live at L’Alliance New York on March 3rd, we present a small selection of the master’s tales on film.
