"In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 in Greenwich Village, a protest began which quickly became one of the most significant events in the history of New York City and helped launch a movement that has profoundly altered the course of history. Two words immediately conjure Stonewall: pride and protest, a tradition that has continued through fifty years of the Gay Pride and Liberation movement. These same words are the title of a landmark episode of In the Life (the longest running LBGT news magazine on television, premiering in 1992 on WNYC, a PBS affiliate)—Stonewall 25: Global Voices of Pride & Protest, here serving as inspiration for a program of short films, drawn from the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project collection, that document and pay tribute the people who struggled, and celebrated, for the inclusion of all."—Metrograph
