"In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 in Greenwich Village, a protest began which quickly became one of the most significant events in the history of New York City and helped launch a movement that has profoundly altered the course of history. Two words immediately conjure Stonewall: pride and protest, a tradition that has continued through fifty years of the Gay Pride and Liberation movement.
