Dance, Girl, Dance at Nitehawk Cinema

Series Site

Marking the 30th anniversary of SHOWGIRLS, we have assembled a troupe of dancers who fight with blood, sweat and tears to make it.

Ballerinas, burlesque performers, exotic dancers, and more all strut their stuff, pushing their bodies so they bend until they almost break. Though some use their talent for higher purposes, like the women creating community in PARIS IS BURNING to Tracy Turnblad fighting for civil rights in HAIRSPRAY, more often these women are driven by cutthroat ambition. Spanning the horrific (SUSPIRIA, CLIMAX, BLACK DAWN) to 80s confections (HEAVENLY BODIES, FLASHDANCE) to the campy (SHOWGIRLS, I KNOW WHO KILLED ME) to gorgeous classics (THE RED SHOES; DANCE, GIRL, DANCE), these films show how dance can traverse all genres and conjure many emotions.
