Series Site
Programmed in collaboration with film zine Cashiers Du Cinéma, this 10-film series contemplates “cinema work” itself in works of cinema—the lives and mundane thrills of those very ticket takers, popcorn scoopers, and clean-up crews who keep the fire burning within the walls of movie theaters around the world.
A word from zine editors and series programmers Dan Welch and David Cardoza:
“The movie theater employee has a rich psychological profile for the film-going community to readily dive into. Cashiers Du Cinéma is a showcase of this very life: a magazine by cinema workers. It’s an ode to the movies they love, to the customers they love to hate, and to the slacker code of conduct. To go along with our zine, we present to you a slew of movies which embody the ethos and popcorn-slingin’ pride that working at the movies is all about.”
Zines will be available for sale; live readings to precede some screenings.
