Starting this January, our tribute to Patrick Dewaere continues. The most thrilling French actor of his generation, Dewaere blazed across screens for just a few short years, before his tragic death at age 35. Dewaere never made the leap to American films like many of his contemporaries, but is an icon to French audiences, starring in era-defining hits and cult classics, simultaneously tough, tender, funny, and broken. The series includes New York premieres of new restorations, and numerous imported 35mm prints. Films in the second part of the tribute include André Téchiné’s Hôtel des Amériques, with Catherine Deneuve; the scandalous Beau-père; and F as in Fairbanks, opposite real-life partner Miou-Miou.
