Lumberjacks and Logrollers

Series Site

"This winter, Scandinavia House will be screening a film series presenting films from a genre in its own right: the Finnish lumberjack films. These films created during the 1920s onward boasted heroes that could steer logs through rapids and split trees in half. This survey organized by Vito Adriaensens showcases Finland’s rich history of the logging tradition, and its importance in developing a national identity following Finland’s 1917 independence." —Scandinavia House
